The new Benji was adopted from The Humane Society of South Mississippi in Gulfport. Lizard Tongue (Shaggy) was adopted from the Animal Care and Control shelter in South Chicago. We don’t really know what their stories were prior to adoption…

…but it could’ve been this very story.

The television news broadcasts heard over the opening titles were verbatim from actual broadcasts in the cities noted. The voices were re-recorded and are not the original broadcasters.

Special thanks to
The Utah Film Commission and the people of Payson, Kaysville, Salt Lake City, and Ogden, Utah

And to Eric Aschaffenburg, of The Humane Society of South Mississippi, for bringing Benji to our attention.

And to Melanie Sobel of the Animal Care and Control Shelter in Chicago for sending us photos of Shaggy.

Benji is on a mission to help every homeless animal she left behind in shelters all across the United States. The Benji Buddies Foundation is a non-profit corporation with the direct mission of emptying those shelters of Benji’s Buddies by convincing you that a star of your own awaits you in your local shelter, bearing the gift of uncondition al love.
