IT’S NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE

The creation of a one-stop resource for ALL local pet information was never available until PETS 911. This public service has done it – brought together over 9,200 shelters and rescues, the largest national animal welfare organizations and some of the country’s largest corporations to finally provide ONE national resource that helps ALL pets, both with families and those that are sadly without them.

TWO FOR ONE

PETS 911 is not only an Internet resource, it is also a bilingual, toll-free hotline f or people without access to the Internet. PETS 911 leaves no one out! All the information available on the website can also be accessed by phone

SO WHAT TRULY MAKES PETS 911 SO SPECIAL?
5,000,000 SAYS IT ALL!

It may not be obvious what the above number represents. It’s large and powerful, yet in this instance, incredibly sad. Every year in the United States, over 5,000,000 healthy and completely adoptable pets are euthanized. Why would the most powerful country in the world do such a thing? There is one simple reason – there are not enough homes. Shelter and rescue organizations in this country are brimming with unwanted, stray and homeless pets. What many of us do not realize is that this issue is solvable! By understanding the issue – doing our part to care for our pets as family members and utilizing the important resources PETS 911 offers every community – we can and will solve this issue. So please do yo ur part and make sure your community is taking advantage of the following resources on PETS 911:

ADOPTION is the answer! Check out pictures of adoptable pets on PETS 911 – or simply find the location of any shelter or rescue in any community nationwide.

• If you’ve LOST OR FOUND a pet, make sure the pet is entered on PETS 911 and that you review our additional helpful suggestions. Can you imagine a world where ALL lost pets are automatically entered on ONE system? We have! The term “lost” would only be temporary!

• Most important in ending pet overpopulation – SPAYING AND NEUTERING! Find the nearest veterinarian or spay and neuter clinic in any community on PETS 911. Prevent pets from contributing to the problem of pet overpopulation by having them fixed. If we all make sure our pet(s) is spayed or neutered, the issue of overpopulation will end altogether – and now PETS 911 makes it easy to do this!

DONATE to your local organizations. Shelters and rescues in your community are short on resources when it comes to caring for so many animals. PETS 911 lists donation opportunities in every community. Help out where you can.

VOLUNTEER at a local organization. Volunteers are precious to this cause but there are too few to go around. Every city or town has hundreds of volunteer opportunities and we list them!

FOSTER a homeless pet! This helps the local shelters and rescues more than you can imagine and it is a lot of fun! Find all your local fostering opportunities on PETS 911.

• There is a humane way to care for FERAL OR STRAY CATS living in any neighborhood, park or alley, while at the same time preventing them from breeding. This process is called “TNR” (Trap, Neuter, Return). Visit PETS 911’s feral cat section to locate organizations in your community that can humanely assist with these free roaming cats.

PET FRIENDLY HOUSING is now easy to find, anywhere! Simply visit the Pet Friendly Housing section on PETS 911, and any ZIP code in America will give you options for moving with your pet. There is now NO reason to give up a pet simply because you’re in a relocation situation.

• Do you and your pet need BEHAVIOR AND TRAINING tips? PETS 911 can definitely help! We promise the frustration will go away once your four-legged family member is properly trained. PETS 911 has some of the country’s top trainers answering training questions and writing content for us!

• As briefly mentioned before, use PETS 911 to LOCATE THE SHELTERS AND THEIR SERVICES in your neighborhood. It is truly as simple as that!

In summary, we can all do our part. If you know anyone that needs help with the above, or would benefit from this information, we hope you’ll pass along this website (PETS911.com) as a resource. And remember, if someone does NOT have Internet access, all of the above is available via the PETS 911 toll-free, bilingual hotline
at 1-888-PETS-911.
