Reading is one of the best things children can do for their developing brains.

The Benji Wish Books are a series of entertaining, involving stories for kids seven-to-twelve-years old, written by Benji's creator, Joe Camp, each designed to instill the values of a positive character trait. As of this writing, three are completed and will soon be illustrated and published. Until then, Benji Wish Book 1: Benji and the Missing Truth is available here for your kids to read, or for use in the classroom. This same story will also be available for kids to read or retrieve in the New Stories section of the Kids Only neighborhood here at Benji.com.These are not picture books, but short reading books for seven-to-twelve-year-olds. Sort of a bridge between picture books and chapter books -- not written "simply", or "down" to any age group, but with style and intrigue to drive kids through the stories just as a good novel drives adults. To give them experiences that will bond them to the written word early on, experiences rich in emotional involvement, demonstrating by example how much fun the process can be (hopefully reducing the 28 hours per week that the average American child spends watching television) while, at the same time, planting a value that will stick because it speaks to the emotion, is felt (as opposed to being purely an objective, intellectual experience).

Benji Wish Book 1 is entitled Benji and the Missing Truth. Click below and enjoy.
