Dog Training DVD - Now Available!

The Benji Method is a non-regulation training video that is fun to watch and fun to work with. A guide that dispels the notion that training your dog must be difficult, or must be done by an expert, or that you need a PhD in animal psychology to even try. Helen Dennis, a new puppy owner in England, was the first to receive an advance copy of the new DVD and has reported several of her experiences with her new Tibetan Terrier who she named after Benji. Read the entries below:

Joe spent almost thirty years absorbing and applying with his own dogs the ways and means of Frank Inn, in Joe's opinion the best trainer who ever lived, and now Joe has compiled the essence of these years of learning into simple yet magical answers for you. He and benji personally demonstrate for you that training your dog is simply a matter of love, logic, and real communication. And patience. The purpose of this video is to make you be your own dog’s best trainer. To make you so comfortable with that fact that you will be able to have terrific communication with your dog throughout his or her life. Without a bunch of experts telling you that you must do it their way.

"Training with compassion and communication
makes all the difference. We are going to teach your dog
a full and working vocabulary."
Joe Camp

Helen Dennis, Journal Entry #1: "Just a quick note to let you know that the DVD arrived successfully...and that it plays on my macine! I have watched most of it already and it's superb....I love the way Joe has explained the vocab idea...and it's great to see him working with Benji...and Pontoof and Skilo (if that's how you spell them!) so that we can get an idea of a less trained dog's repsonse. It really feels like we are having a 'personal teaching session with Joe' as it flows so naturally and feels real....not staged. I am planning to watch the rest in the next few days...and then exactly two weeks today our very own Benji arrives...so we can get to work! As promised we'll keep you up to date with our progress...but thanks already for such a great DVD."

Helen Dennis, Journal Entry #2: Just a quick update from over the pond! Our very own Benji arrived last week and we are having a great time with her. I am eternally grateful for Joe's advice especially about the crate training. She settled really well and is more than happy to go to her crate and as a result all the toileting since day 2 has happened in the garden...and we are able to play with her as a reward during 'quality time' out of the crate rather than anxiously watching her all the time and continually telling her 'no' whilst trying to do other things. We all stick to the timetable and she seems to appreciate the routine and sense of 'own space' she has too! Having had her only 7 days she can 'sit' when asked...so you were all right about Tibetan Terriers being bright. Our 14 year old spaniel never mastered 'sit' reliably ...but then we didn't have Joe's DVD then!! Thankyou so much again for all your help....so far...more than so good...! We will keep you up to date.
Best wishes to all

Helen Dennis, Journal Entry #3: Our Benji is doing so well. We have worked hard on Sit and Stay and she has really got the hang of that. We therefore moved onto 'down'. We worked from the sit position and put the treat down on the ground between her front paws just as Joe had shown. She is so tiny that a simple bend of the head meant she could reach the treat....! So a subtle move of the treat back between her paws eventually brought about the 'down' position! I was really encouraged by Joe's comments that you can train a dog to do what they will do naturally and so moving the treat to make her shift into position worked a charm! She is now pretty reliable at 'down' as well as sit...and my ten year old daughter Meggie is working really hard with her every day to reinforce the training. Little and often like the DVD says is the key! Great fun all round!!
